I had a thought just now.
Me and my Dad honestly plan to see 'Open Water' whenever the opportunity presents itself. But I don't really believe that it's going to work out. So, i've been watching the commercials anyway.
Until just recently, I had assumed that once the two stars were left behind by the tour boat, the movie followed them for the remaining thirty minutes. However, a new, longer trailer that has recently begun airing.
In this trailer, we actually see the entire group of divers on the boat as they make their way out to sea. And after we get the "Daniel, where's the boat?" line, the images prevelant in other trailers begin. The jellyfish, the storm, the sharks.. But there's something else, something that adds a level of SUSPENSE to a movie I assumed to be completely directionless.
In the midst of all this frightening imagery, we see the captain of the boat the stars were riding. He picks up their wallets and, realizing that someone has been left behind, rushes off of his boat to contact coast guard.
Along with this new image of the black guy running, there's also a few frames of aerial shots taken from inside the leader of the search party, a plane.
The only problem I have with this movie is that it's so predictable. The true events the movie was based on ended in death, so how can the movie be any different and retain credibility?
